Today is May 11, 2023, the day that a “civilian invasion” is being perpetrated upon the United States (more honestly “Divided States”) of America. This is the day that many people on both sides of the border will view with awe. Most of the American citizens who care about the nation are in awe that their government is being criminally negligent in allowing no border to exist. The majority of those on the Left (Socialists and Communists) are in awe because their dream of bringing down this “Capitalist Bastion” is more than they could have ever hoped for in their long struggle, which brings them much closer to their ultimate dominion over the “Land of the Free.” Those drug cartel moguls are in awe as the “War on Drugs” is much closer to ending in the defeat of those righteous Americans who fought against them. And the regular people (whether they are on a nefarious mission or simply trying to find a better life for themselves) are in awe because it seems their dreams will soon come true.
It is a day to be remembered, an ominous day, not just for those American citizens who have been betrayed by their own “leaders” in the government, but also ominous for the entire free world. Dark clouds hang over the “Land of the Free” in such a time as this. And, it appears that the floodgates at the southern border of the nation have freely been opened to the mass of bodies gathered to cross into their “promised land.” There are so many layers to this moment regarded as a “civilian invasion” of America that it is not easy to examine them all, but most people are not interested in a narrative or in the pathway that led us to this point in history. Nevertheless, for committed readers, we offer some perspective so that people will be able to wrap their heads around such reality.
The irony of this moment is not lost on those who understand the history of the United States and its relationship with the nation of Mexico. The more revealing history is ironically embedded in the Cinco de Mayo holiday just celebrated last week. So, the featured article in today’s edition reveals some of the related history between the U.S. and Mexico, but it provides a glimpse into the treasonous action of elitists and the remnant of royalists in Mexico. It reveals the time a very popular outsider was elected president of the country. The elite absolutely could not tolerate the duly elected leader of their nation. I have studied this history, which has practically been buried in the cobwebs of time. In my humble opinion, in light of what is currently happening in America on multiple levels, a similar scenario of treachery is unfolding in our time, and there are parallels in America to the treason committed by the “leaders” of old Mexico against their own people.
There is only one article in this edition, not because I believe my article to be a “stand alone” article, or that it is so important, but as many readers know by now, the last edition of the CPR Lifeline Advisory was intercepted via Google Groups (one of the methods we use to distribute the newsletter). They had blocked the edition from being distributed through our array of Google Groups that had been created over a period of years since the efforts to promote Dr. Carson for POTUS. There have been a number of uncooperative, or outright attacks on our humble efforts by the Google staff, or their ‘bots’ over the years, but this unwillingness to distribute the CPR newsletter was new. So in response, we initiated a more comprehensive evaluation of all of our communication efforts and our future options. So, the second entry today is the CSN Survey.
Part of the evaluation process is this survey we placed in last Tuesday’s Citizen Voice. We have placed that survey in this CPR edition because we are circling back to the origin of the problem.
The CPR newsletter was initiated because CSN had to abandon our website due to the attacks in previous years. Yet, the survey we are using can be applied to any of our newsletters as this will be a comprehensive evaluation in which we are taking inventory of all that we do.
We hope readers would help to answer the survey questions in order to help us re-examine and possibly re-invent ourselves as a relevant, responsive, and viable news source. If CSN readers’ responses show that there seems to be little relevance to certain features in our newsletters, the handwriting is on the wall. If our newsletter is only relevant or valuable in our own minds, as little or no value may be derived from our efforts for readers, then there exists no long term value to the effort and the efforts of multiple volunteers can be put to better use. We are prepared.
On the other hand, if readers find value in our newsletters, they may serve a greater purpose, and it may be worth the investment of time and energy and effort for our various volunteers. The survey only contains four multiple choice questions, so it is not difficult. We ask that answers be honest; it will be most beneficial if readers are as honest as possible. Please help! The last edition of the CPR Lifeline Advisory featured Patrick Henry’s famous “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” speech. It was paired with an article I wrote about another memorable day in history when the shot heard ‘round the world rattled the British tyranny and sparked the War for Independence. Perhaps such a pairing of these two provocative messages may have been too much of a patriotic spark for Google. From that day of posting that edition, no other postings from the CSN editions were blocked by Google. In the introduction to that edition, I offered another quotation from Patrick Henry as he spoke on the horrendous French Revolution:
But, as to France, I have no doubt in saying, that to her it will be calamitous. Her conduct has made it the interest of the great family of mankind to wish the downfall of her present government; because its existence is incompatible with that of all others within its reach. And, whilst I see the dangers that threaten ours from her intrigues and her arms, I am not so much alarmed as at the apprehension of her destroying the great pillars of all government and of social life; I mean virtue, morality, and religion. This is the armor, my friend, and this alone, that renders us invincible… (as quoted in Henry, 1891, 2:591-592, emp. added).
To extend the irony of this day of the civilian invasion of the United States from Mexico, it was that same nation of France that survived the calamitous French Revolution and then Napoleon Bonaparte, and then under Napoleon III, initiated an all out attack against the people of Mexico at the behest of those who were of noble blood or of elitist disposition. France indeed survived their own self-inflicted horrors, to thrive another day under another dictator, who installed a dictator over the people of Mexico.
My article examines a bit of this history that very possibly neither many Mexicans or many Americans have ever been exposed to such history. The history of such treachery against the Mexican people was not taught in any sustained public manner on either side of the border. It’s a dangerous history – to elitists. This history is suitable for patriots who prefer the truth to candy-coated fables or divisive and poisonous narratives.
Once upon a time, in old Mexico there were ordinary citizens who moved from their caves of ignorance and fear and left their comfort zones armed with the courage to rise up to resist and fight against tyranny. Read the article, and if you want a companion to that, there is an earlier version of this article I wrote in 2017 that looks at the situation from the reaction of the elitists in the U.S. to the election of another outsider, Donald Trump. The history behind Cinco de Mayo reveals high treason! The article in this edition viewed the proverbial “handwriting on the wall.” The elitists in the U.S. are still betraying the American citizens, as their reaction is still playing out today. As mentioned in the last CPR edition: “America is currently under attack, and… is nefariously directed against the root of our nation – God Almighty, and the focus of the outward attack is upon virtue, morality, and religion. Our enemies doubt our invincibility, but do we?”
It is time for true American citizens, those who are willing to defend the Republic, to awaken, to arise, and to unite. It is a time to “Join or Die,” as Ben Franklin warned Americans long ago. This is such a time. Pockets of patriots need to continue to spring up all across the nation. “We the People” need to become “We” again in such a time as this. The CPR will continue to support those who are awake, those who arise, and who take genuine responsibility to align themselves once again to make this nation once again to come under God’s guidance and protection and to return this nation to the position of promoter and protector of Freedom in the world. However, if there are not enough patriot-readers who see much value in our communication endeavors, we will pick up our marbles and focus our efforts elsewhere. Dr. Ben Carson said that democracy is not a spectator sport. It involves pro-activity. It involves taking ownership of the Republic.
The original words of guidance from Heavenly Father in establishing CPR were to reestablish covenant with Him, to establish and continually enhance lines of communication with Him and one another, and to establish community in the process of working together on projects worthy of investment. If our readership does not view this effort worthy of simply answering a few basic questions, the project will no longer be worthy of our volunteer’s investment.
The Coalition for a Principled Republic exists as a grassroots alliance, or confederation, of organizations connected via common lines of communication and shared information and focused on promoting cooperative action on vital projects deemed compatible to organizations that seek to retain a Republic rooted in the shared ideals, principles, and values of our Judeo- Christian heritage. We actively seek alliances, so if readers belong to like-minded organizations, we request consideration as affiliated or partnered arrangements to work together. Divided the Republic could falter; but United, the “We the People” will stand!
Reflections on Cinco de Mayo and Related Political Machinations in 2020

Much like St. Patrick’s day, which was virtually ignored during the COVID-19 Pandemic, the holiday of Cinco de Mayo will also likely fall victim to the fallout from the disease. In addition, the tensions along the border with Mexico have subsided to some degree in the recent months. This is partly due to the Supreme Court decision that allowed the Trump Administration to Maintain the “Remain-In-Mexico” Immigration Policy at present. In early March, the Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration could continue to enforce an immigration policy requiring foreign asylum seekers near the southern U.S. border with Mexico to wait on the Mexico side while their specific cases are considered.
But, since Cinco de Mayo is not a major holiday in Mexico, it is likely that many of those Mexican asylum seekers won’t be able to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in the United States. Despite being relatively known throughout the U.S. as a Mexican-based holiday, it is not widespread in Mexico. Actually, for those who have celebrated Cinco de Mayo in the U.S. for a number of years, most would not believe that the holiday remains relatively insignificant in Mexico, except perhaps in Mexico City or La Puebla. However in recent decades, some Cinco de Mayo celebrations took on a political tone in relation to the current debate over illegal immigration.
Despite the festivities centered around Cinco de Mayo in the past, average American citizens may not know the “why” behind the celebration. Equally true is that the average Mexican may not know well the “why” behind the celebration. It is really not altogether complicated. It is similar to the reasons why so many Irish-Americans (as well as many who want to be Irish for the day) like to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. It is similar to why Italian-Americans like to gather and celebrate Columbus Day. It is similar to why the Chinese-Americans join together to celebrate Chinese New Year. But, Chinese New Year was not celebrated this year, and St. Patrick’s Day was also cancelled.
In a most unusual year, life as usual has been put on hold due to COVID-19. Only now, as we enter into the month of May, there is the beginning of a cautious easing back into the life the world once knew prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic. But the hidden history of the Cinco de Mayo holiday contains an interesting blueprint for communists, elitists, and globalists alike in this time of chaos and confusion. While educated Mexicans would be aware of the origins of Cinco de Mayo, they would know that it is not celebrating Mexican Independence Day. However, Americans may view it as comparable to American Independence Day.
Cinco de Mayo (May 5th) is not even remotely comparable to the 4th of July. A Mexican - oriented holiday, it is based upon the remembrance of an extraordinary victory of some outnumbered Mexican patriots over a far superior French army. However, independence came after a successful revolution in “New Spain” that technically liberated Mexico from colonial control of Spain in 1824. But, elitists of royal and old European bloodlines had seized control of Mexico. But, they were finally ousted in the election of 1861. This period of Mexican history had been dominated by “La Reforma.” It came to a climax when democratic-minded populists took control of the government with the election of Benito Juarez.
The election of Benito Juarez in 1861 was pivotal in the history of Mexico. Benito Juarez was the first native American to be elected president of a nation in North America - likely in all of the Americas. He was an educated man and sought to help Mexico get on the road to stability and economic health. He sought to create solutions to the economic dominion of Mexico by the joint efforts of Roman Catholic Church and the landed, ruling class, or aristocracy. Juarez also believed that capitalism could achieve such ends. He also believed a constitutional form of government modeled after the federal system in the U.S. would provide political stability. Despite the ideals, the Juarez victory came at a time the country had been weakened due to the Mexican Civil War of 1858 and the internal “reform wars.”
This was a time of conflict between the common people and the aristocratic factions. Basically, it represents the culmination of divisive struggles between his populist movement and an entrenched, landed aristocracy. That aristocracy had been leftover from the old Spanish Dominion. Unfortunately, the Mexican nobility, the entrenched aristocracy, did not share much excitement in the election of an Indian as president. The Mexican nobility saw their control over Mexico coming to an end. They felt desperate when Juarez was elected. The aristocratic backlash led to a nightmare that exploded the internal divisions and resentments.
The majority of this Mexican aristocracy refused to accept the popular election of Juarez. Some then attempted to reverse it. Some of the aristocracy went so far as to meet representatives of Napoleon III to invite the French to help them take back their nation and to recover political power and reassert control over the Mexican populace. The aristocratic backlash permitted a French invasion and takeover of Mexico, and the eventual regression of the nation to its previous tyrannical state. Ultimately, hope among the people generated through the Juarez political victory was smashed by the hatred the Mexican aristocracy harbored against the common people.
Ironically, the reason for a Cinco de Mayo holiday is partly due to the major problems that confronted newly-elected Mexican president. Economic weakness led to Mexico’s struggle for survival against a full-scale French invasion. In 1861, newly-elected Juarez faced a huge national debt left by the previous elitist government. He also faced furious and ongoing hostility from the nation’s elitist politicians. He also confronted an internally organized attempt of former government officials to destroy the administration. Juarez had several issues to deal with as he came into office, but the one that nearly destroyed Mexico was the massive debt.
Once he assumed office, Juarez discovered that as a result of the civil war, the Mexican elitist government had desperately borrowed large sums of money from the three major colonial “superpowers” in Europe. There was virtually no money. After deliberation over his options, on July 17, 1861, Juarez issued a moratorium to suspend all foreign debt payments for a period of two years. The announcement of a debt moratorium was a grave mistake. It is usually the case when those indebted think they can bypass terms of their financial contracts. On October 31, 1861, representatives of the governments of France, Great Britain and Spain met in London. They signed a tripartite agreement to intervene in Mexico to recover the unpaid debts.
Those nations’ warships were dispatched across the Atlantic. The ships reached the port city of Veracruz at different times, but they were all there by the 8th of December. The combined military force seized control of the custom house, and the obvious intent of the troika was to stay until they collected the outstanding balances on their respective loans. However, Juarez sent representatives to Veracruz to renegotiate the debt. Britain and Spain were willing to do. Their troops got in their ships and sailed back to Europe.
The Spanish and British forces may have realized the “real plans” of the French directed by Napoleon III. But, as the British and Spanish withdrew, French ships did not. French ships remained anchored in the Gulf of Mexico, and troops remained on alert. The French army had been sent across the Atlantic to ostensibly collect a debt owed to France. The action initially appeared as a concerted effort of three European nations that had been orchestrated by Napoleon III.
With the excuse of collecting an outstanding debt, the French emperor made clever use of the financial crisis to establish a French empire in Mexico. And that is what he did. It was not possible for the Mexican officials to reach any satisfactory agreement due to the subversive plans of Napoleon III. It became apparent that the French emperor was interested more in French global ambitions, much like his uncle, Napoleon Bonaparte. Cinco de Mayo came about as the celebration of the short-lived victory of the Mexicans over their French invaders in 1862. Mexico lost the war.
The first battle between the Mexican and the French occurred near the village of Puebla, on May 5, 1862. It resulted in a rout of the superior French force. This surprised the French because their army had outnumbered the Mexicans by about 2:1. Yet, this proved to be a short- lived victory—a temporary setback for the French. This initial Mexican victory became a thorn in the side of Napoleon III because it delayed his plans. The following year, however, the French emperor simply sent reinforcements.
In 1863 with 30,000 troops, the French fought the second battle of Puebla. On May 17, the Mexican army surrendered, and by May 31 President Juarez was forced to flee the capital with his cabinet to the city of El Paso del Norte. That city is now known as Ciudad Juarez. Here President Juarez persisted with his government-in-exile. By June of 1863, the French and the Mexican elite regained control of Mexico City and central Mexico. On April 20, 1864, the Mexican congress, members of the Mexican aristocracy and the occupying French forces installed Maximilian as Emperor Maximilian I of Mexico. It essentially made Mexico a French colony.
What? Is that in the Mexican history books? If the French made Mexico a colony in 1863, why do the Mexican people still speak Spanish? Well, herein lies the wrench in the machinery of those Leftists who believe in the Reconquista ("reconquest"). The concept of Reconquista is that Mexico should re-conquer the land of the Southwestern United States. The United States intervened in the colonization of Mexico by the French tyrant. If not, Mexicans may very well be speaking French today.
President Andrew Johnson invoked the Monroe Doctrine in February 1866, and demanded that the French leave Mexico. At the same time, the U.S. Navy initiated a naval blockade in the Gulf of Mexico to intercept any possible French reinforcements attempting to enter Mexico. Eventually, Napoleon III decided to pull the French troops out and advised his puppet, Maximilian I, to vacate the premises as well. Finally, it was over.
The U.S. was pleased because while Lincoln was alive, his Administration had never viewed the reign of Maximilian I as the true will of the Mexican people. When Benito Juarez regained control of Mexico in 1867, the U.S. welcomed his return as the legitimate leader. Sadly, this old friendship has been buried as progressive-revisionist historians have focused on the enmity between the U.S. and Mexico. The purpose is: divide and conquer. But, bitterness ruins a potential powerful friendship today. Somewhere over the rainbow, Cinco De Mayo could serve as an opportunity to promote friendship and the potential alliance between the two nations in the future.
