The Christmas holiday has now passed us by, and hopefully people enjoyed the holiday with family, loved ones and close friends. Hopefully, people were able to regain their energy and revitalize after a difficult year with many ups and downs. Now people may be considering the challenges of the new year that await us.
Americans will cross into 2024 with a weakened United States: overwhelmed by rampant and unrepentant immorality, deceived by humanistic, religious “leaders” with little in common with God’s Will; dismayed by the woke corporate capitalists with an eye on controlling the public, especially the flow of accurate and essential information; a very corrupt government, seemingly with little concern for the well-being of all the people; a national borders that is wide open for terrorist types to embed themselves into American communities, and a military that has become more focused on DEI ‘sensitivity’ than serious readiness to deal with global enemies.
Humanity in the rest of the world will cross into 2024 aware of a weakened United States and how our government is dealing with (or not dealing with) two deadly wars raging simultaneously, and threats of various outbreaks in multiple hotspots across the planet. With a leadership void in the U.S., the nations become prey of the major predators, and many of the world’s leaders are shifting loyalties from the western democracies to align their nations with the globalists’ or the communists’ agendas. These two dominant forces show up as more formidable when they appear in the public light as strange bedfellows.
2024 is shaping up as a year in which the forces of Tyranny will blatantly confront the forces of Freedom in a major cosmic battle for the dominion of the planet. It is evil vs. good in such a time as this. Some people know this, while some are just beginning to realize the nature of the battle that has been brewing for some time. As mentioned in the Founder‘s Focus at Thanksgiving, the freedoms we once took for granted as citizens are now understood as being under attack, and now “citizens may no longer continue to be so casual about freedom.”
This winter of ‘23 - ‘24 may still be another dark winter, but as mentioned in the Thanksgiving edition, the Pilgrims had to suffer through dark winters, so did the colonists as they had to fight for their lives and for Independence, and the Americans who fought to preserve the Union in the dark winters of the Civil War. There are those who are not even aware of the need to defend the freedoms so many fought and died for over the course of our nation’s history. There are those who are just beginning to awaken to the realities of the battle. And, there are those who have been fighting for some time. Regardless, if one is called to defend freedom, it is hard to ignore.
Almighty God has had to work through people throughout history as evidenced in the Bible. If this nation, which He helped to create through brave and brilliant men who would obey Him, is now facing an existential crisis, will He not again be calling to those of His children who would obey Him? For some sitting on the fence of history, it is quite easy to embrace the illusion that God will do it all for His children. If that myth were true, the world would not be in such a state. He works through those who seek His Kingdom and His righteousness, He calls to those who have eyes to see and ears to hear. He calls to those who may obey because they sense the preciousness of Freedom and would be willing to shed sweat, tears, even blood to preserve it.
Our main article of this edition of the “Founder’s Focus” is a message I wrote in another dark winter. I wrote the message on exactly the same date in 2020. The intent was to provide hope and historical perspective in the midst of darkness and help readers get back in touch with the nation’s roots of our Judeo-Christian heritage. As we approach the celebration of New Year’s Day, it would be wise to consider what kind of people we are, who we came from, and where we came from, and to sincerely decide what we believe in. My article is: “Bold and Courageous Americans Required to Forge the Future of Freedom” They are truly needed – in such a time.
The second message is from Michael James Lewinski who wrote his message during the dark winter of 2022 (in February) about his perceptions of the Progressives. The title of his brief message is, “Progressives Hate the Founders Because They Hate God.” Whether they hate God or honestly have never made His acquaintance, they do the things they do without God and unconnected to His historical Providence.
In such a dark time as this, many may not be certain whether the United States will prevail in the current cosmic battle raging in a not so civil manner between the ones who seek to preserve our nation founded upon Freedom and those who seek to transform it into something more akin to the Globalists’ or Communists’ respective visions of utopia. God has His own vision of an ideal world, and He is in this battle. It is important for those who love Him to be on His side, and not the side of the enemies who want to re-make the world in their own image.
The future of America’s freedom will be determined by courage or cowardice in such a time as this…
Bold and Courageous Americans Required to Forge the Future of Freedom

American history is full of stories of how, in times of tribulation and tremendous trials, true heroes emerge. Of course, that doesn’t show up in the various Marxist-based, or N.Y. Times promoted, anti-American history courses. The real history is not propaganda from either side -- it is based on objective observation, and the simple fact that a rag-tag band of colonial volunteers was molded into a legitimate fighting force speaks volumes of truth about heroism arising in times of adversity. In my previous article that touched on General George Washington’s bold turn in mid-winter, I could only summarize how difficult the circumstances were for the six-month-old baby of American Independence. Americans today assume a lot about the history they truly do not know.

The birth of the United States came with great pains, great personal sacrifice, and much mutual suffering. The real history of the “army” that the Continental Congress formally adopted in June of 1775, did not resemble a genuine army because they were simply a volunteer force: farmers and farmhands, clerks, merchants and shop-keepers, sailors, dockworkers, doctors, and teachers. John Adams addressed the delegates of the Second Continental Congress to convey the appeal of the Massachusetts Provincial Congress to avoid a disaster should the British troops manage to break out of Boston and “spread desolation as far as they could go” against anyone who got in their way.
The reality is that General Washington continued the siege of Boston that the volunteers had initiated after the skirmishes in Lexington and Concord. However, a year later, Royal British troops and Hessian mercenaries did “spread desolation as far as they could go” after they crushed the Continental Army at Fort Lee and Fort Washington in New York. The colonists suffered devastating losses. The better trained, more disciplined, totally equipped, superior British forces then proceeded to chase General Washington out of New York, across New Jersey, and to Pennsylvania before they decided to hunker down for the winter just miles from Philadelphia. It had the appearance of a very dark winter for the cause of Independence at the end of 1776. Most definitely, in the winter of 1776, the cause of freedom appeared lost.
It is likely that the British Empire as a whole, did not see the rebellious band of Americans as a serious threat, but the colonists seriously doubted the wisdom of angering the mightiest empire on Earth. Perhaps a much more sensible people would not have senselessly stirred up a hornet’s nest of royal retribution against those British citizens who had dared to shoot at the king’s troops, an act equivalent to shooting at the king himself. The action was an outright act of rebellion; King George III recognized it and was resolved to crush the rebellion before it became any more of a problem.
America now faces an existential threat
Yet, the United States was born -- eight long, struggling years after the “skirmishes” in Massachusetts. And from this simple fact, there is a deeper significance that is surely missed in the historical record. It is quite revealing of America’s nature: The birth of the Continental Army came before the Declaration of Independence was formally adopted, certainly well before the official birth of the nation. The first government of the “United Colonies of North America” under the Articles of Confederation, which were not formally ratified by the states until 1781, the year that Washington accepted Cornwallis’ surrender at Yorktown.
So, what nation were the volunteers fighting for? They had no nation -- only a notion of what it would be like to be free. While the historical chronology may seem inconsequential, it represents a deeper significance to some patriots today. The peace treaty with Great Britain did not officially acknowledge the new United States of America. It was not until the peace treaty was signed by Britain, France, and the U.S.A. that the nation officially was born. This means that in those long years of battle, the colonial soldiers had no nation of substance for which they were fighting. Their fight was rooted in faith and in hope that their cause was worth the fight.
In a previous article regarding the winter of ‘76 and General Washington’s bold attack of the Hessians, the reading of Thomas Paine’s The American Crisis to the troops prior to the attack was mentioned. Paine’s words ignited the desire to fight and not retreat from destiny to create the Land of the Free. The words Paine used in such a critical time are easily re-applied to the formidable circumstances in the Republic in 2020. America now faces an existential threat. The times, indeed, try the souls of citizens who love America.
American Crisis
The fire from Paine’s American Crisis inspired those bold and brave men in his day; would it again ignite citizens’ passions to defend freedom. Consider again a bit of Paine’s passion in light of the fight today:
...I turn with the warm ardor of a friend to those who have nobly stood, and are yet determined to stand the matter out: I call not upon a few, but upon all: not on this state or that state, but on every state: up and help us; lay your shoulders to the wheel; better have too much force than too little, when so great an object is at stake. Let it be told to the future world, that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive, that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet and to repulse it... throw not the burden of the day upon Providence, but "show your faith by your works," that God may bless you. It matters not where you live, or what rank of life you hold, the evil or the blessing will reach you all. The far and the near, the home counties and the back, the rich and the poor, will suffer or rejoice alike. The heart that feels not now is dead; the blood of his children will curse his cowardice, who shrinks back at a time when a little might have saved the whole, and made them happy.
I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death. My own line of reasoning is to myself as straight and clear as a ray of light. Not all the treasures of the world, so far as I believe, could have induced me to support an offensive war, for I think it murder; but if a thief breaks into my house, burns and destroys my property, and kills or threatens to kill me, or those that are in it, and to "bind me in all cases whatsoever" to his absolute will, am I to suffer it? What signifies it to me, whether he who does it is a king or a common man; my countryman or not my countryman; whether it be done by an individual villain, or an army of them? If we reason to the root of things we shall find no difference; neither can any just cause be assigned why we should punish in the one case and pardon in the other. Let them call me rebel and welcome, I feel no concern from it; but I should suffer the misery of devils, were I to make a # of my soul by swearing allegiance to one whose character is that of a sottish, stupid, stubborn, worthless, brutish man.
Are not our elections being stolen? “When so great an object is at stake…” in the cause of freedom, courageous patriots were willing to die for it, even before the nation existed. It is the same cause President Lincoln honored in his Gettysburg Address. Now, it is the cause for those who are called to defend freedom from the handmaidens of tyranny: fear and ignorance. Such handmaidens usually precede tyranny. Will future generations respect or resent us, who have now received our turn to honor and preserve freedom? The future of America’s freedom will be determined by courage or cowardice in such a time as this.

What is a Conservative?
We are principled, Constitutional Conservatives who look at the facts whereas our enemies are the Progressive ideologues who make things up and use big fat lies to trick the American people. These ideologues, the Progressive, Democratic Socialists who want to destroy our history and replace it with fantasies, go against the grain of any American patriot with even an ounce of common sense.
These people reject God and are really angry we were founded as a Christian nation. That’s why you saw the mobs in 2020, led by Antifa and BLM, tearing down statues of our founding fathers. You witnessed the glee some of the protesters experienced when tearing off their heads. Two of our presidents they targeted were Thomas Jefferson and George Washington.
When George Washington wisely chose to retire at the end of his second term, he addressed the nation through a written document to deliver his farewell address in 1796. As we are told by My Faith Votes CEO Jason Yates in his recent essay, “Our First President's Warning to the Nation,” Washington cautioned us we must never lose our identity as a Christian nation.
Yates said a long-time tradition of reading the document in the U.S. Senate chamber began during the Civil War in 1862. He quoted Washington saying, “The unity of government which constitutes you one people is also now dear to you. It is justly so; for it is a main pillar in the edifice of your real independence, the support of your tranquility at home, your peace abroad, of your safety, of your prosperity, of that very liberty which you so highly prize.” … “[P]ains will be taken, many artifices employed, to weaken in your minds the conviction of this truth…”
Yates said Washington recognized faith was the central foundation of this sacred unity and was necessary and the best hope for the nation. “Let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion,” Washington stated. He said it was more important than education.
“Democracy is less a system of government,” Washington wrote, “than it is a system to keep government limited, un-intrusive.” It is, he stated, “a system of constraints on power to keep politics and government secondary to the important things in life, the true sources of value found only in family and faith.”
